Verified ReviewerTerrible Company
We bought a brand new 2023 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 36U on November 30, 2022. I should have known that General RV is a questionable dealership when the finance guy pushed the magical paint coating on me, I said no and when I showed up to pick the RV up, it was done anyway and $7K added to the invoice. He claimed I said I wanted it. I clearly told him in the phone I did not. He said too late, its done. I should have walked. Stupid of me.
It gets much, much worse. The walk through produced a punch list with half a dozen small items but they couldnt get me back in for 4 months to fix them. Should have walked then as well. Stupid me.
Then I get home and within a week, the inverter fails (on a brand new rig!). General RV has no advice. I call Tiffin many, many times and finally find an electrician that walks me through it and confirms, bad inverter.
On our first (and still only camping trip (8 months after purchase) the defective Lippert jack legs broke. One snapped off, and the other stuck in the dirt. I spent the weekend trying to fix it as General RV and Tiffin neither offered a morsel of help.
I dropped it off on 4/2/23 for the warranty repairs and the two new major problems. That was 3.5 months ago. Its still not repaired.
At first, they forgot they had it. Yes, the first idiot service concierge, Richard, that I had forgot it was there. Then when I called raising *** he called me back 2 days later to tell me it was ready for pickup. Two days after that, as I was about to do the 5 hour drive to pick it up, he lives a voice mail saying the parts on still on order. Huh? I call Richard, the concierge, and he didnt remember talking to me 2 days earlier. That was May.
Now two months later, I learn that the jacks were not ordered from Lippert until 7/12, more than 14 weeks after the RV was dropped off. The other parts also didnt get ordered for months.
This dealer is the worst. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. DO NOT GET YOUR RV SERVICED BY THEM. A clueless company that does not care about their customers.
- Worst company ever

Verified Reviewer | Grand Blanc, MichiganDissatisfied
We bought a used trailer from them, and they charged us almost 5,000.00 to inspect and clean the unit prior to our picking up the unit. They did not do any cleaning, and we found duct tape on the wiring for the battery that could have resulted in a fire.
They charged us another 1000.00 to install a new screen that was torn on inspection. We were dissatisfied with the price as we were quoted one price and then when the paper work was written up there was a total different value which we did not agree to. They said the paper work was right, and we still were obligated to the contract of sale. They had several mistakes on paper work with our names spelled wrong for one example.
We really wanted to get out of the deal but were told several times that all our concerns meant nothing and the price is what we agreed on. The financial person even made the comment that the numbers on the paper are generated by the computer, but he guaranteed that the price we agreed on was there.
Numbers did not add up. Worst experience purchasing anything in my life.
User's recommendation: Do your research prior to signing any forms. Inspect the unit fully prior to signing any forms.

Cancelled Purchase
Stay away, this business is solely interested in sales and nothing else. Encountered a situation where I placed a $2500 down payment on a camper and 7 days later had to,cancel, due to health issues.
Business retained all of my deposit stated they had to pay transportation charges to get the camper I purchased from Ohio. In checking haulers and costs from Ohio to the Florida location the highest cost was $1,504. Sales team at General would not return any portion of down payment. I emailed both CEO, Robert Baidas and President Loren Baidas and never received ANY response.
This is a strong reflection of the top management team not caring anymore than the regional management team. This would be a business I would highly recommend you stay away from.

General Rv Ashland Virginia is no good
Don't buy a Camper from General Rv Ashland Virginia,
Camper has been there 3 times and still can't things fixed right. All the problems are from when I bought it.
Rams on the side of slide out where bent. T.v. didn't work right in the camper. Molding on the top of wall was falling down after first trip.
Big scrapes under the recliners. Front of camper was not sealed properly, so now since water has came in camper, when u roll the bed slide out got 2 big roller marks on floor. AND WHEN I TOOK THERE FIRST TIME THERE CAMPER MOVER WRECKED IT INTO ANOTHER CAMPER ONLY WAY I FOUND OUT WAS THEY NEVER ANSWER PHONES SO I STOPPED BY THERE AND SEEN CAMPER IN SHOP WITH BLUE TAPE OVER BACK CORNER, SO THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT.
So no on there seems to care. The money I spent on this camper seems to make no difference.
User's recommendation: Don't buy from them

Verified Reviewer | Schaumburg, IllinoisNeed my $3,000 down payment returned please help me
General RV is a terrible place to purchase a RV requested my $3,000 deposit back and the company is refusing to return my $3,000 back to me. It was my first time going to a RV show I went to the convention center on a Saturday to look at RV's the sales person appeared to be a nice person all smoking mirrors we asked every question in the book to include out the door pricing and return policy.
The sales person presented himself as a person/friend to get the sale. I went back the last day and timeframe of the show myself with my male partner and they convinced me to put down a $3,000 down payment of $3,000 they were rushing and they knew I had to go back home and talk over everything with my male partner (which I'm a lady who know nothing about purchasing an RV and or the RV rules and regulations). Again, they rushed me through the paperwork and I did trust them it was sign here it turns out I was signing non-refundable policy. I never received the paperwork which I did ask for and I was told when you pickup the RV and finalize everything you will receive the paperwork at that time, my mistake again I trust everyone I spoke with on that Sunday at the convention center in IL.
I went home and share what I could with my male partner and he was lived about how the price and what we were told by the sales person was not the same. The next morning I emailed to cancel and that's when I received the run around. I will say when I spoke to a sales manager he did stop the process of me purchasing the RV but the sales person and everyone else would not return my down payment. I share with them my situation had changed I'm a single mom with lots of child and could not afford to lose or have them keep my $3,000.
That's when I was told I signed 3 times non refundable paperwork.
The General RV location in Huntley stated the only way to use my $3,000 that I can't afford was to come in and move forward with purchasing the RV, which I explained as a company you should make it know through verbal and written communication everything is non refundable at no point on Sunday at the convention center was it explained to me non refundable the employees of The General RV location explained everything else verbally and sign here quickly and even gave me his personal cell number. Once I emailed/ texted the next day the following Monday to cancel I felt like I was communicating with a entirely new company and The General RV employees. If I knew this was the type of company I was working with I would have never stop by their site at the convention center or gave the down payment especially a non refundable down payment. I begged and pleaded with The General RV in Huntley Company I even had my credit card company and the Better Business Bureau contact them because the phone calls stops The General RV employees stopped communicating with me outside of the sales person called me to get me to use the $3,000 down payment to continue to purchase a RV.
Lots of nerve of the salesperson I reiterated I needed my $3,000 down payment back my situation had changed I could no longer afford a RV or could not afford for his company The General RV in Huntley or any company to keep my $3,000 the sales person told me he's just the sales person it is nothing he could do in other words he only wanted to sell me a RV. I never in all my life experienced anything like this usually a company would release $3,000 back hoping you would later on come back and purchase and recommend the company to others. The General RV in Huntley was only interested in a purchase and will keep my $3,000 down payment until I purchase which they do not care I'm a single mother who's financial means have changed and buyers remorse set in the next following day and again I never took possession of any RV they never ran anything but my credit.
The General RV in Huntley never contacted anyone to finance because I alerted everyone the next day which was that Monday 1/23/23 at 5:30 AM they I could not move forward and it has been *** / sleepless nights and no concerns of The General RV in Huntley problem if I want my deposit back but they still want me to conduct business with them. I found out in IL if you put a down payment down at a convention center and The General RV has a sales building in Huntley which I have never been to the location we never got that far you can cancel but the company goes by Michigan law which is different from IL law Michigan has a non refundable clause you are locked down and force to purchase or like me I have just lost my $3,000 down payment can anyone help me I really need my $3,000 back I can't afford to purchase a RV or to lose my $3,000 due to my situation changing and I have kids, someone please help me
- No matter what you will not get your money back
- 000 back
- Company does not care what about the situation single mom need
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerSold a camper I could not even pull
A year and a half ago I purchased a general RV camper in Ashland Virginia when I had a 20-22 Ford edge SEL and was sold a 2016 jayco hybrid xrb with a 350 lb suppose tongue weight after I signed the contract they told me by the way it has a 450 lb ton weight instead of finding me a camper that can be used the only thing the general manager in other managers there at that time offered was a simply told the camper to my house so after signing a $20,000 contract I have a camper that's out of my backyard for 6 months required me to go and trade my new vehicle if I only have four or five months prior through for credit in for a brand new F-150 just so I could use the $20,000 yard decoration I was stuck with if I had a new truck and would have purchased an actual camper with a hard shell and covered all the way around it or would have passed all together if my vehicle at that time could not have been been used simply the fact that the managers only offered to tow my $20,000 yard decoration instead of canceling the contract. Or professionally would have actually turned around and gave me a camper that could be pulled by my 2020 Ford edge SEL instead of making me go by a brand new 21 f150 so total that I had spent that year just to utilize for one and a half years was $70,000 and as I went to explain to them that they should give me a better turnaround rate because of the way they did mean beginning for a trade for my camper for a closed in one that I can actually get more of you so they basically laughed in my face and told me no totally disrespect by the managers.
This is my third attempt to contact you guys I recently just also contacted you through another branch and was received a call by the Richmond Branch and not have heard back it has been over 30 days and still nothing has been done they swept me under the rug and figured I'd go away next move would be calling my social media news outlets and asking for help if this cannot be handled in house I'm simply asking to take the $19,000 remaining off the one I have and trading it out for a closed-in newer or used one at $300 a month it is not that hard or difficult for them to accomplish this but they are making it very difficult so hopefully you guys can light a fire underneath the Ashland branch and ask them to get it done cuz my only other option is to go to social media and news outlets I greatly appreciate you hopefully this time around after a year and a half of being screwed over something will be done. Thank you

Verified Reviewer | Ocala, FloridaAdd an extended warranty at 5 times the cost quoted.
We refused the extended warranty over a dozen times. Then the finance department added on the "ultimate" extended warranty package that was never ordered or even discussed.
The word "Ultimate" was never used in our discussions and it surely wasn't explained what that included.
We were quoted $12/month for the "select" bumper to bumper warranty (which is is not with many exclusions) and this ended up being $52/mo.
The resulted in a charge of $12586 that should have been $2880.
They have not helped with the cancellation process and in fact have been very evasive in providing the most basic information to start the process.
In addition, we have received two incomplete document packages that would have shown us this overcharge, but seems to have been conveniently left out of our paperwork package.
Now I have been charged $12586 on the financing and have to work backwords through the warranty company, the bank, and general rv. The cancellation form wants me to put my wifes social security number on it and send it to an email address of cancellations@***.com. How many people might have access to this email. In addition, the cancellation form does not even ask for a signature, yet we had to sign/initial virtually every about 20 documents in the finance department.
I have spent two days of my life trying to get simple answers to simple questions with less than acceptable results.
I would not reccomend this business due to the dishonest and high pressure finance department that only seems to be worried about their commission checks without regard for providing the customer what they clearly ask for and nothing more.
Take your hard earned money elsewhere.
This company is not worth the stress and trouble. Don't do business with General RV.
- Sales department seems good
- Finance department is dishonest and unethical in their dealings

Verified Reviewer | Ashland, VirginiaKept my brand new R.V for nearly a year, still outstanding repairs
Unbelievably poor customer service, complete with documented outright lies. I went through all the proper channels to resolve this-General RV Corporate Customer Cares, State Attorney General Consumer Protections Complaint, complaint with the manufacturer, and certified letters demanding dispute resolution.
All were ignored. It is appalling how they can treat consumers, now that I know there is little recourse for a customer against a dealership. I'm referring to the Richmond, VA, location, although corporate customer care did nothing to help either. Photos are from the day we purchased.
The landing gear failed, took them 2 months to fix before we could even take possession of our brand-new R.V. If you purchase, insist on an independent inspection because they obviously don't do one.
- Were the only location that had the model we wanted
- Lies at all levels of management
- Do not answer phone calls
- Do not uphold their service policies
User's recommendation: Cannot be trusted

Who is going to pay to ship it back? Do you think it’s fair for the Florida dealer to absorb the RV into its inventory?
